Who can vote: All registered voters in the Town of Palm Shores (precinct 95)
Registration books close: August 27, 2007
Ballot language:
BALLOT SUMMARY: Shall the Charter of the Town of Palm Shores as adopted by the Laws of Florida, ch. 59-1708, be revised and readopted to update antiquated provisions, provide for a mayoral term of four years and continue the strong mayor form of government and implement budget recommendations of the Town certified public accountants?
Yes, for approval
No, for rejection
Mail ballot election: This election will be conducted as a mail ballot election. This means that ballots will be mailed to each registered voter in the Town of Palm Shores. There will be no polling places open for this election. Ballots will be mailed on September 5, 2007 (except for overseas voters, whose ballots will be mailed as soon as they become available). Because this election is being conducted by mail ballot, you do not need to request an absentee ballot. However, if you reside in the Town of Palm Shores and you have moved and not notified the elections office, or if you will not be at your residence address (or will not have access to the mailing address that we have on file for you) after September 5, you must contact us to update your address information and/or to let us know where to mail your ballot.
All ballots must be voted and returned to any Elections Office by mail or in person no later than 5 PM on September 25 (7 PM at the Viera Office) to be eligible to be counted.
In order for your mail ballot to be counted, you are required to provide your full Palm Shores residence address, including city, state and zip code, and sign your name in the appropriate spaces on the return envelope. All signatures will be verified against our registration records. Ballots with blank or improperly completed certificates will not be counted.
Moving into the Town of Palm Shores: If you are registered to vote in another area of the county or state and move into the Town of Palm Shores after the ballot mailing period (after September 15), you may vote in office as noted below. Due to requirements of state law, no ballots other than replacement ballots may be mailed after September 15.
Voting in office: Voters with special needs or who are unsure where they will be during the mailing period may vote at the Melbourne or Viera Supervisor of Elections offices during regular office hours from September 5 until 5 PM on September 25 (7 PM in the Viera Office).
Military and overseas voters: If you are in the military or are temporarily residing outside of the country and you have not notified our office of your military or overseas address, please contact us immediately. If you have notified us previously of your current address, you do not need to do so again. Overseas voters' ballots will be mailed as soon as they become available in order to give you sufficient time to vote and return the ballot.
Lost or damaged ballots: In order to receive a replacement ballot, you must sign an oath stating that you did not receive your mail ballot, or that it was lost or damaged.
